Myofascial Yoga:

Myofascial Yoga Adjustments for Teachers

Take as Module 2 of the 200-hour Myofascial Yoga Teacher Training program, as a workshop for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Credits, or just to learn more about adding myofascial yoga into your practice.

Adjustments have become a common feature in yoga classes, but are they essential? And if so, how can we ensure they’re done safely? Can alignment be guided effectively without physical touch? Join us as we explore these questions and more in this workshop featuring Polyvagal Theory expert Dr. Arielle Schwartz!

The Importance Of Cueing In Yoga

Cueing is when we make verbal statements that direct our students to enter a certain pose. Too often, however, instructors are taught to simply rattle off “cookie cutter cueing” as if from a script. In this module, you will learn the intentions behind the poses you are directing, and how to cue these poses effectively, safely, and in a trauma-informed manner. The training will also cover the effects of yoga poses on the nervous system, particularly how it affects pain levels and inflammation within the body.

This goal is to bring together the intention of each yoga pose (why we are doing it), the action of each pose (flexion, extension, etc.) and their effects (increases hip mobility, quiets the nervous system, etc). Having your yoga poses itemized in this way makes the cueing much easier, because you then understand exactly why you are doing the position, how it benefits you, and what you should be feeling as a result.

This workshop can be used toward the 200-hour Myofascial Yoga teacher training or as continuing education credits with Yoga Alliance.
